Plymouth has been an important historical port since the middle-ages, situated in the county of Devon it is a prime location for exploring the neighbouring countryside. Places of interest are the Royal Citadel built in 1666, Smeaton’s Tower originally built as a lighthouse and Plymouth Naval Memorial which remembers those killed in World War I and II. Plymouth also has over 100 listed buildings and the largest area of cobbled streets in the UK.
