Malacca is a maritime coastal city which has grown considerably over the last century. Most of the historical sites of interest are located within the city centre which since 2008 has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Places to visit are Fort a Famosa, built in 1511 by the Portuguese, Francis Xavier Church, St John’s Fort and Jonker Street famous for its antiques and carnival like atmosphere.
