Sendai is a modern city situated in northern Honshu and is famed for its beautiful scenery, and the Hirose-gawa River which passes through the centre of Sendai. Sendai is also known as the ‘City of Trees’, as it has an abundance of all types of trees lining its streets and squares.
The Many Sights of Sendai: We visit the famous Zuganji Temple founded in 828, and built in 1606 and is considered to be one of Tohoku’s finest Zen Temples. We continue along the coast to Shiogama a beautiful fishing port a lovely shrine situated in the cedar groves. On the way back to the ship we stop at the kanran-Tei Pavilion, famous as a magical spot from which to view the moon and tea ceremonies.
