Iraklion is the largest city on Crete and also the main entry port, which makes Iraklion a great base from which to take excursions to other parts of the island. The city is worthy of exploration, visit the Fountain of the Lions built by Morozini, plus Knossos the famous Minoan palace which was completely reconstructed to give an insight into the island’s life over 4,000 years ago. Most people will remember the Palace of Knossos for its Minotaur and Labyrinth.
