Typical Excursion

Ancient Olympia and its Archaeological Museum:  This tour takes us to the ancient site of Olympia where in 776 BC the first Olympiad was held in honour of the Olympian god Zeus.  Set in a fertile valley between the rivers Alphios and Kladhios the site was previously a sanctuary and the perfect setting for the Temple of Zeus, one of the wonders of the ancient world.  From here we head to the Archaeological Museum which houses the Head of Hera and the statue of Hermes. Merkouri Estate and Wine Tasting:  We take a 15 minute drive through the pretty villages and picturesque countryside to the Merkouri Estate, where we have a tour of the cellars and old olive press plus the museum full of agricultural equipment.  We continue with a tour of the vineyards and forest before we sample the local wines.
