Cochin is in the state of Kerala, known for its exotic spices, beautiful beaches and historic sites. Must see and visit are St. Francis Church with the tomb of Vasco de Gama, the famed Portuguese explorer, the 16th century Synagogue and the Mattancheri Palace which houses some of India’s best Hindu ceremonial costumes and frescoes.

Cochin and its Backwaters: On this excursion we take a walk around Cochin through its green and leafy streets to the Church of St. Francis which has some beautiful floor tiles. Opposite is the Santa Cruz Cathedral designed in an Indo-Romano-Rococo style. From there we venture to the Pardesi Synagogue dating back to the 15th century. We can take our time to look inside at the amazing hand painted blue and white porcelain tiles, where no two are alike.
