Mumbai is home to the ‘Gateway to India’ which was built to commemorate the visit of King George and Queen Mary in 1911. Mumbai is a cosmopolitan city full of fascinating sights including bazaars, temples, historical buildings and is home to the Bollywood film industry.
Marvels of Mumbai: Firstly we visit the ‘Gateway of India’ and the Prince of Wales museum. We then travel on to Mahatma Gandhi’s Bombay home where he lived between the years of 1917 and 1934. We also get a good view of the Railway Station built to celebrate Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee. Elephant Caves: We travel to Elephanta Island to see the caves which were carved from rock between 450 BC and 75 AD. These amazing caves have verandahs and carvings of Lord Shiva and the Great Lord with its three faces representing the Hindu trinity.
