Situated on Arabia’s fertile plains and a source of Frankincense, Salahah has been an important port since the time of Marco Polo in the 13th century.  Travel inland from Salahah and visit the towering mountains of Al Quara.

 
 

Typical Excursion

Arabian Heritage: We head from the port to the fishing village of Taga, an interesting village with a fortress and the famous white stone that was used to build the local houses due to its heat resistant properties.  We then precede to the Khor Rouri Creek and the ruined city of Samhuram the capital of ancient Arabia. Frankincense Trail & Job’s Tomb: This tour will take us to the alleged home and remains of the Old Testament prophet Job, which is now a sacred pilgrimage for Jews, Christians and Moslems.  From here we can see the Qara Mountains before we head to the Al Husn Souq, which is full of fascinating artefacts, jewellery, incense and presume oils.  We can also enjoy the experience of ‘tapping’ which is withdrawing frankincense from the trees.  We then travel to Mughsail Beach to enjoy the splendid two miles of white sandy beaches.  If we arrive at high tide we can also see the beaches spectacular ‘Blow Holes’.
