Aghios Nikolaos is situated on the north eastern corner of the Gulf of Mirabello, and is a pretty cosmopolitan tourist town. Aghios Nikolaos is also great for shopping, there are lots of first class jewellery and leather shops where you can purchase some hand made and authentic items. One of the most famous historical sites is the Palace of Knossos where a whole town has been excavated.
