Lipari is steeped in history and tradition and is affectionately known as the domain of Aeolus, god of the winds. These islands are a volcanic archipelago, visible from the eastern coast of Sicily and are custodian to some of the most spectacular scenery in the Mediterranean. Expect to find steep cliffs, rugged coastlines, castles, caverns and beautiful secluded beaches. One of the islands, Stromboli, still has an active volcano although the rest of the islands are dormant.
