Formerly known as Porto Leone, because of the enormous stone Lion which guarded the port entrance, Piraeus is now a busy port connecting Athens to the mainland of Europe. From this port you can take an excursion into the city of Athens and discover the wealth of archaeological sites that have made this city famous through the world.
Athens Panorama: This tour has been designed for those visitors that may not be able to negotiate the many steps leading to these ancient sites. From the coach you will be able to see Hadrian’s Arch, the Temple of Zeus, Constitution Square, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, National Gardens, Presidential Residence, and the Olympic Stadium which was the site of the first Olympic Games. Ancient Corinth and Corinth Canal: We had to the ancient town of Corinth where the Apostle St Paul preached to the people for over two years. Corinth was once the richest city in Greece and is home to the huge market place and the 6th century BC Temple of Apollo. We then move on to the Corinth Canal which is 4 miles long and 70ft wide and with sloping sides which reach up to 170ft. The canal was constructed in 1881 to join the Ionian and Aegean Seas.
