Venice was once a world power in the middle ages and is full of historical museums, buildings, churches, ornate bridges and fabulous architecture.
Padua in Depth: Situated west of Venice, Padua is the second oldest city in Italy, and home to a world renowned university. This beautiful city is steeped in history and culture and has retained her standing as an artistic leader in the modern world.Venetian Waterway: We take a waterway cruise on a water taxi that accommodates 12-14 people, and tour the Venetian Canals and lagoons. Our Water taxi is small enough to sail under the low bridges; although the windows are only small we take turns to stand on the outside deck to a get some excellent photo opportunities. Venice Panorama: We take a motor-launch and head towards St George’s Island out across the Southern Lagoon, past the islands of San Servolo and San Lazzaro which is famous for its Armenian Monastery. We then continue along the Lido and enter the canal that separates the two islands to Le Vignole, a famous Venice location for picnics, before heading to Sant Erarmo where all the local fruit and vegetables are grown. Finally we head to the island of Murano famous for its glass manufacturing. On our return journey we pass the Arsenale a walled dockyard, the ancient church of San Pietro di Castell, which until the start of the 19th century was the city’s’ main cathedral.
