Asklepeion better known as Dikili, was once the port for the ancient Citadel of Pergamum, and is famed for being the first place where psychiatry was practised. Places to visit are the Sacred Pools, the Altar of Zeus and the Serpent Altar which still serves as a symbol of the medical profession.
