Alesund has the largest fishing harbour in Norway and is surrounded by high mountains and picturesque fjords. This area has strong links with ship technology, furniture manufacturing and is the largest exporter of ‘Klippfisk’, split dried and salted cod. Alesund is also home to one of the largest aquariums in Northern Europe, the famous Atlantic Sea Park which provides a wonderful insight into the world’s marine life.
