Situated on the Straits of Magellan Arenas use to be a frontier whaling town. Now the town offers a glimpse in to the past with its seaport and colonial mansions. From Punta Arenas you can also tour the scenic landscapes of Patagonia, or take a flight over the continent of Antarctica.
Typical Excursion
Punta Arenas City & Museum Tour: We begin our tour by travelling to the observation point at La Cruz Hill, where we can see as far as Tierra del Fuego Island. We then journey on to the Mayorino Borgatello Museum which has a fascinating display of Patagonian Indian tools and other artefacts. Antarctica Flightseeing: We fly over the Straits of Magellan, Tierra del Fuego and Cape Horn to the Antarctica Peninsula, where we can see the colonies of penguins, seals and the beautiful glaciers and lakes.
