Salvador is famous for the San Franciso Chapel which has an interior made of gold. The old colonial part of the city Pelourinho is home to cobblestone streets, churches and beautiful colonial mansions.
Salvador in Depth: First we visit the elite Barra district followed by a walk through the cobblestone streets and squares of Pelourinho which UNESCO has claimed as the most important colonial architectural site in the world. We then visit the San Francisco church and Cathedral de Salvador. After a Brazilian lunch we drive past the beaches of Boca do Rio, Corsario and Placa Fort and head onto the Carlo’s Costa Pinto Museum. This fascinating museum is full of wondrous art and colonial antiques. We then head to the Modelo Market where we can shop for traditional Bahian arts and crafts.
