This was our second cruise with Cunard the first to the Christmas Markets on the QE2 which i booked with Ideal Cruises (add indaily mail) and we wernt dissapointed The Queen Victoria the ship is beautiful easy to get around the food is good and the service excellent .The cabins were very nice but there isnt enough drawers every body complained about that The staff very friendly they work very hard Appart from a little mishap in Malta with the ship we had a really wonderful holiday and have made many more friends cant wait to sail with Cunard again Mrs N walton
I was lucky enough o be invited to visit the Queen Victoria just days before her naming ceremony and maiden voyage! Upon arriving in Southampton my first impression was wow. Having been on the QM2 i wasn't sure what to expect as the Queen Victoria is a smaller ship.. Queen Victoria is a truly beautiful ship, very traditional with lots of wood and marble, an amazing lobby and beautiful public areas, bars and lounges. The cabins are light and airy although the standard showers are quite small the cabins have plenty of space. I had a look at the Princess and Queens grill suites and they are something else!! they are very spacious and the beds looked ever so comfortable!! Queens suites have a lot more room in them but what else would you expect from the top cabins on the ship! Even the inside cabins have plenty of room. The Grill restaurants are lovely and when had a look at menu the food looks fantastic, just opposite the Grill restaurants there is an outdoor courtyard for outside dining which is for the people in the grill restaurants. The Grill lounge was also very nice and is perfect for pre or post dinner drinks!! The Britannia restaurant was a lovely restaurant and also quite big with a variety of different foods on there wonderful menu!! The thing that is different about this ship to any others is the Royal Theatre, it had private boxes around the edge of it and made it look like something from the west end in London, we were lucky enough to go into the theatre at just the right time as they were rehearsing for there shows, and from what i saw the shows will be brilliant!!! Another place on the ship I would definitely recommend is the Spa WOW!! Is was amazing!! and adjoining the spa was the gym which i didn't think was that big for a ship of this size!! (not that i would use it!) but the atrium was magnificent with its wonderful stairways and stunning decor!! This ship is a wonderful 5* ship and i recommend that everyone should go on it and see just how amazing she really is!!!
Having cruised on the QE2, I was giving the chance of being one the first people to board the Queen Victoria. First impressions of the ship were great with the Grand Lobby being truly breathtaking & very classy which I guess is typical Cunard! Having been on the QE2 I was familiar with Cunards standards & I was not disappointed, the cabins were all of adequate size from Inside to balcony grades but if you are looking for a cabin that is truly special I would recommend booking one of the Queens Grill grade cabins as I felt that the class of this grade really did outshine the other grades by a mile. The cabins were not as quirky as on the QE2 with all there different shapes & size but for what it lacked in character it made up in quality. Had the pleasure of visiting all the restaurants & was very impressed in particular with the Britannia Restaurant which I found pleasing to the eye & quality throughout, the Lido restaurant (buffet dining option) was very large & offered great views from everywhere which is what the lido restaurant lacked on the QE2. Finally I come to the Queens & Princess Grill Restaurants which I was a little bit disappointed with as I thought they were identical with the only difference being the colour of the room, of course still high quality just not very original! I then looked around the pool area taking in the Winter Garden which I found very pleasant with loads of sofas & sun loungers to relax in when at sea.. If you
I have been on many cruise ships and have seen the QE2 and QM2 from a distance but never having been inside a Cunard ship, I was really excited to be invited to see the Queen Victoria. We entered the ship via deck 3 midship and continued aft through the photo gallery where there was plenty of room to display all the formal portraits that will be taken during the cruise. Then straight up to deck 9 for a glass of champagne and canopes in the Lido Caf
I was fortunate enough to get the chance to go on the Queen Victoria to have a look around with some fellow travel agents. I was bowled over by the beauty of the ship, this was my first ship visit and it was huge from the outside, when we got on the ship the atrium was striking very grand and glamorous with a lovely centre piece on the wall and sweeping staircases. The stewards were fabulous nothing was any trouble for them they showed us around and were all smiles all the time. we looked around and went to the lido deck to have some champagne and nibbles, this was a lovely restaurant with huge bay windows that looked out over the sea and we had little rolls, pizza's and puddings with our champagne, the stewards served these out and made sure we were comfortable. The lido has a calming airy feel and its an informal dining room. We carried on looking around taking in the beauty of the ship, the finishings are lovely all wooden and marble effects to have a sophisticated feel, We came across the play zone next we couldnt go in but looked through the doors and they are full of comfy colourful sofas, games consoles and loads of games, children will have a fab time in here and never be board. As we walked around the ship, i noticed the lifts have designs on the doors and theres walls of mirrors which i thought was a nice touch, we came across the Queen Victoria's grill area on deck 11 which has the Princess and Queens grill restaurants which are beautifully decorated in light woods and natural colours, the tables are beautifully set and looks very posh, you can see the courtyard from the grills restaurants and this area would be lovely to sit out on in the sunshine, it has lovely decking and beautiful table and chairs on here. There is also a grills lounge which is perfect for afternoon tea and cocktails with live entertainment. We walked on to deck 9 and came across the winter garden this is light and airy and it has indoors and outside areas that have a really relaxing feel, it is a like a grand conservatory to chill out in, this area leads onto the spa and fitness area, i loved this part it was quite small but lovely and relaxing, it had steam rooms and saunas with beautiful tiling on the walls, the hydra pool was gorgeous with huge jets that spray out into the water and it is has flowers around the pool, and lots of wooden sunbeds with comfy cushions on them they were really comfortable. After this you come into the fitness area they have a huge gym on board that has huge bay windows so u can work out looking out over the sea which i thought was a really nice touch, they have all the gym equipment you could think of in here. There are also corriders of private treatment rooms that have all different treatment equipment and options in these and theres a spa shop you can buy all the different lotions and potions from. We moved on to Hemispheres which is a lovely club, it had a piano band playing music in here, there is a huge wooden dancefloor with a huge chandeleir over the top which i thought looked lovely this was one of my favourite rooms on the ship, it has lots of seats around the edge and a huge bar in here ideal for dancing the night away, and nice relaxing daytime music. On the same deck there is the Admiral's lounge where you can relax and read a good book, and the Churchills cigar lounge where you can smoke in here, the room seats 11 guests so has a small homely feel it has a cupboard full of cigars from all over you can purchase, you can also purchase armagnac, cogna, port, madeira and scotch. We walked onto the cabins, I was really impressed with the standard inside cabin i thought it was lovely and i would definatley stay in an inside cabin it was big enough to fit the double bed in and a dressing table in the corner the set up was lovely in here. the bathroom was a good size too. I looked at the balcony cabin next, the room was a good size with a large flatscreen tv on the wall infront of the bed and there was space to walk around the cabin, the bathroom was a good size again and it had a small balcony outside the patio doors, this had a table and chairs on here. The princess cabins have two beds a bathroom with shower, a living area, small kitchen and a verandah with table and chairs on here, the cabins range in size from 335 to 513 sq ft. The queens cabins were fabulous, they were a really good size and i was amazed at the balcony on these they were huge! In the cabin you get two beds a bathroom a really good size, living area and huge verandah you can fit large table and chairs on here and there is space to sunbathe and walk around these balconies, you also get butler and concirege service on queens suites. After we looked at the cabins we went into the brittania restaurant, this was huge it can seat 900 people and has two floors it has an intimate feel and is very grande and you get great waiter service in here, this restaurant is open to all guests. there are also a wide selection of restuarants like the todd english and Golden lion pub which offers good english grub and a great english feel. There are coffee areas which are nice too especially the cafe carinthia and it offers coffee, hot chocolates, teas and freshly baked muffins, croisants and danish pastries. I also loved the champagne bar which was really stylish and good prices. After all this we looked at the library which is huge, there is so much selection on books and its a nice quiet area to escape the hustle and bustle. We went to the theatre which i was completely amazed at it has 16 private boxes which you can book to sit in and it has a royal circle at the top and plenty of seating down the bottom, we watched a show it was victoriana they were rehearsing for the big show to the grand opening and they were amazing it was like i was sat in a london theatre production i was awe struck and we watched atleast four songs, they got all the audience involved too gettin us to wave our arms and sing along, I could have sat here all day but we had to move on still so much to see. We came across the casino which was huge i was surprised at this it had all the slot machines, and roulette and poker tables it was set up beautifully and i can imagine you could have alot of fun in here on a night. There is also places called the Cunardia which is a charming room with leaded glass panels and canopies and it is a museum of memorabilia and artefacts that tell the story of the cunard line. We alos came across the Queens arcade which is a lovely parade of shops we didnt get to look in these as they were closed but from what i saw throught thw windows there was some lovely things and reasonable prices, you can pick up some nice souvenires in here. All in all i thoroughly enjoyed myself and i didnt want to get off the ship when our time was up, i would definatley reccomend this ship to anyone who likes some class, glamour and relaxtion on a cruise.
As a Cruise Consultant for Ideal Cruising I was very lucky to be able to go and see the Queen Victoria on Saturday 8th December 2007, before she set off for her maiden voyage or even officially named. My first impression of the ship as we pulled into the docks at Southampton (on a grey wet morning) was how fantastic it looked with her name in lights! We were given a set tour to follow, which covered all the main areas of the ship, and one of each stateroom. When we boarded on deck 3, we past by the Photo Gallery, where ordinarily the pictures taken by the onboard professional photographer would be situated, however as we were the first people on board this was empty. We then took the lift to deck nine for the Lido restaurant where refreshments were served including Hors d

I was one of the lucky one's selected to go and see the Queen Victoria in Southampton before she set off sail on her first sailing. My first impression was WOW! I haven't been on any other Cunard ships so wasn't to sure on what to expect. When we were driving to the port we could see the Queen Victoria, and the first thing that caught my eye was the Queen Victoria name on the side of the ship was in Lights. This looked so pretty and im sure in the dark this will look good. We looked around all the cabins, the one that i liked was the grand suite, this was very spacious and luxorious. The outside cabin with a balcony are nice with plenty of room for familys. We then looked around the pool area, plenty of sun-loungers, bars so you can get your drinks easily, facilities for disabled people and Winter Garden (plenty of sofa's and area for you to take time out). We then walked through to the Cunard Royal Spa, now all i can say is WOW! I really wouldn't mind spending a day here.... There is a hydrotherapy pool surrounded by a lovely area for you to relax. From the hydrotherapy area you can access the Fitness centre and Gymnasium. We then went up to Deck 10, on this deck you will find The Admirals Lounge, Churchhill's Cigar Lounge (Smoking area) and the Commodore Club...if you fancy a quiet drink these are the perfect places to go. We then visited the Britannia Restaurant this is the ships largest restaurant, we then walked through to the Chart Room, The Champagne Bar(Looks Lovely!!) and then the Grand Lobby. From the Grand Lobby we then walked to the Todd English, this restaurant..this is a very nice restaurant that offer's more privacy and modern atmosphere to passengers. One thing you will need to give ago is The Queens Room and Queens Arcade, here you will find the ball room which is aimed for people wanting to enjoy a nice cocktail and hearing music from as harpest or string guartet. The main feature of the ship that i enjoyed was the Royal Court Theatre. When i walked in i was very shocked to see such a big theatre on a ship! We sat down for a little while to watch the shop, and the customers that the dancers wore were amazing! The theatre also has boxes down the side so you have a better view of the show. I feel so lucky for being able to see The Queen Victoria and would recomend this to people thinking of going on a cruise.
