On boarding the ship i was pleasanly surprised at the decor. As it was christmas time the crystal atrium had icicles hanging from the ceiling, christmas trees and sparkly decorations. Our cabin was a romance suite which i shared with my mother. The suite was a wonderful experience with Butler service, if you needed it! Every detail was lovely from the fresh flowers and fluffy robes to the fabulous coffee maker which ground the beans for every brew! We were lucky enough to get a chance to look round one of the Garden Villas - it was truly amazing in every way - it had a living room with grand piano, dining room, three bedrooms, each with a bathroom and one of which even has a plasma TV! There is of course also a butler on hand. The decor was very modern and comfortable - i was quite envious! NCL are very family friendly with the usual kids clubs but the sselection of rooms for the

We visited the Norwegian Pearl whilst it was docked in Southampton. I was very impressed with the overall layout of the ship and the friendliness of the staff. The bowling alley and rock climbing wall were great additional activities as well as the games room, swimming pool, bars and night club. There was an excellent choice of food, and each restaurant was very individual in decoration and menu. The South Pacific spa and beauty salon offered a wide range of tempting treatments in a very relaxing atmosphere. The Body Waves fitness center had wonderful floor to ceiling windows so you had a nice view whilst exercising. All seats in the stardust theatre had a great view and the show was spectacular. The cabins were comfortable and it is possible to keep in touch with everyone at the internet cafe. I greatly enjoyed my visit to the Pearl.

As i am a Sales Consultant for Ideal Cruising, i was lucky enough to take part in what we call in the travel industry "a educational". I stayed on board the Pearl the night before her inaugural sailing out of Southampton. As it was an educational i was privilaged to be able to take a look at each of the cabin types on board - from the more than adequate "Inside" cabins right up to the spectacular (and massive - 4390sqft) "Garden Villa". I also had a chance to experience the many bars and restuarants on board. My favourite bar was the very classy "Magnums Champagne and Wine Bar" (where i spent most of thje night) and I chose the main restaurant "The Summer Palace" for my evening meal - which was excellent - great food and the service from the waiters was spot on! I rounded the night off in the "Bliss" nightclub - the music and atmosphere where really great and the club itself was really well designed - i was surprised to find it even had a couple of bowling lanes either side of it - great fun!! I was very impressed when at 5 in the morning i managed to find the "Blue Lagoon" restuarant was still open!! I sat down and ordered a hotdog and chips - just what i needed after a heavy night out!! My cabin was just a basic "Inside" but had everything i needed. Very clean and spacious - plenty of waldrobe space and a well designed (and well stocked) bathroom. Overall a great experience - having been on board i can see why NCL are fast becoming one of best cruislines around.

This was the first occasion that the Norwegian Pearl had been into a UK port, and what a celebration it was. The ship was extremely large but not large enough to lose you as there was always friendly pointers along the way to help you get to where you were going. We ate in the Indigo restaurant, the food was lovely and the waiters were attentive but not pushy. We spent alot of time in the Magnum champagne and wine bar, where although busy, you could get served in very little time. We then moved onto the Stardust theatre for the evening show which was very modern and featured famous BMX stunt riders, skateboarders and rollerbladers along with the usual dancing and singing, the whole combination was compiled superbly. We also managed to take in the Spinnaker Lounge which was holding a 60's and 70's night with Austin Powers present (the cruise director!!). The evening finished in the Bliss nightclub, which although compact, seemed remarkabley spacious, especially when you consider that there were two bowling lanes on either side of it (all lit up in a very glow in the dark manner). I was very fortunate to be able to take in all the different grades of cabin on the ship (although I only had a basic inside to stay in), however even from the very lowest grade there was plenty of room to swing a cat (even though I had to technically use my room mate), and everything you could really need including a tv (with bridge cam and normal shows), excellent decor, and a well stocked bathroom with a superb shower. In higher grades of cabins you got large flat screen tv's, mini grand piano's (that play themselves!!), and lots more luxuries. All in all this is probably the best cruise ship I have been on and can see why NCL are doing so well in a very competitive industry. I look forwards to visiting her sister ship the Norwegian Gem (same layout) in 2007 (hopefully).
