Cruises on Oceana

Oceana - P&O Cruises

The family-friendly, informal Oceana is neither one of the largest nor the smallest ships on the seas which results in an intimate, friendly atmosphere with added excitement, energy and variety. Elegant bars and peaceful spas mix with traditional English pubs and lively nightclubs to create the perfect mix of fun, sun and relaxation everyone wants from their summer holiday.

Oceana cruises offer a range of accommodation to suit all needs and budgets from an extravagant suite with a balcony, butler service, 2 TVs and daily canapés to a standard inside or outside cabin with en suite bathroom. But no matter which Oceana cabin guests choose they can make the most of a king-size bed, a daily steward service, a wardrobe and desk, a TV, a radio, a telephone, a safe, a refrigerator and tea and coffee making facilities.

Facilities on Oceana

Dining onboard the Oceana will be one of the highlights of every guest’s cruise whether they enjoy a four course meal in Marco Pierre White’s bistro Café Jardin or the fresh seafood in the al fresco Horizon Grill. Oceana cruises offer traditional dining in the main restaurants and lighter or more informal dining can be found in the Terrace Bar and the ice cream parlour, Sundaes.

Throughout the day guests can enjoy a range of activities from pampering in the Oasis Spa or salon and shopping in Oceana’s duty-free boutiques to practising their swing in the golf nets and working out in the ocean view gym.

The informal and friendly atmosphere make Oceana cruises a fantastic family holiday and there’s plenty to keep the kids entertained including 4 pools, a splash pool, kids’ clubs, children’s play areas and sports courts.

Oceana’s stylish and diverse bars are a key feature of the cruise, from lively champagne bar Winners’ to the traditional English pub The Yacht and Compass, they are perfect for pre- or post- dinner drinks. Guests can raise the stakes in Oceana’s Monte Carlo Casino whilst those with itchy feet can dance the night away at Le Club. Footlights Theatre and Starlight show lounge showcase some of the best talents on the seas including singers, dancers, comics and actors so guests can sit back and enjoy an evening of top quality entertainment onboard their Oceana cruise.

Fourteen nights touring the Western Mediterranean, including Lisboa, Barcelona, Villefranche, San Gimignano, Algheiro....and more. A spotlessly clean cabin (midships, portside, balcony) with very hard-working staff ensuring that the quality and standard is maintained throughout. Food? Oh my! Those restaurants! Just spoilt for choice, posing a problem as to what to eat. Food very well presented and a visual treat in itself. I asked the sommelier/head wine waiter to be educated in the wines that I drank and that was helpful - and fun. Plenty of classes (the wine tasting activities were well presented and informative)and lectures on ports of call to keep you occupied. The dance classes organised by the Scottish Bob were fun and easy to master. The gym was too small for a ship that houses over a thousand, with limited services. Excursions were ok, but expensive with only the two that gave a lasting impression: "Glories of the Gladiators" was an education and source of wonder; but the "Treasures of Tuscany" to Volterra and San Gimignano (Of the film 'Tea with Mussolini') was memorable. Go on this trip, it'll create a lasting impression on you. This is P&O service onland! Pure romance. A meal in Tuscany overlooking a city of towers on a hill. The shows were ok, and could have been better. We had dancing lessons before we went, and danced every night in the impressive Atrium. First on the floor, last off, some passengers thought we worked there! A Cosmopolitan cocktail on the Promenade deck with a warm breeze in your hair and watching the sun set....this ship was my introduction to P&O. We're definitely going with P&O next time, and we would easily choose the Oceana again.

This was our first time on a cruise, I have to say that Captain Reid and every member of his crew were first class the ship was fantastic and the food first class we meet some interesting people from all walks of life so I think from now on this is the way to holiday I dont think hotel accommodation can touch the luxury of a cruise the caribbean was a lovely destination to beat the winter blues of England.

Flew from Manchester on time and arrived in Barbados on time. P&O excel at transferring you from plane to ship and this evolution was carried out quickly and without fuss. Boarding also very swift but it did take a few hours for luggage to arrive at our cabin. All programmed visits were very good - we were given a running commentary all the way through the Canal which was fantastic - apart from Margarita Island which I thought was a waste of a day. The ship is very smart and well looked after and all the facilities are very good. I travelled with my son (21 years old) but he found little for his age group on this particular cruise. The restaurants (and food) were excellent with plenty of choice and the highlight was the evening meal which was excellent every evening. The level of service was also outstanding. Entertainment was hit and miss - the resident dancers worked really hard - the entertainment staff were also very enthusiastic - and the Irish comedian (Adrian Walsh) was extremely funny. The late night venue was average and closed too early! The Starlight venue was too small for the number of people wishing to attend cabarets and on 3 occasions we were turned away because the place was full which is annoying when you plan your evening. I also planned to watch football (advertised in Horizon) on one day but this did not appear on TV even though many passengers were sitting waiting for it and no annoucement was made to say it had been cancelled. As with all cruise lines - the shore excursions are really expensive and I cannot understand why they persist with them when a trip to the end of the jetty gets you the same excursions for less than half the price. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this ship and the places visited. I would not recommend it to anyone under 35 as it did not have enough entetainment for ages below this. It has a wonderful ambience and the ship has plenty of soul and it is far better than Ventura which I found to be completely soulless and bereft of any atmosphere whatsoever. I wouly cruise again on this ship!

We could not fault the ship food or the staff. the passengers were another matter lots of v. old people some quite senile- we had our two teenage boys with us- the older of the two who is sporty found the ship quite boring as far a sports facilities were concerned and spent most of the time with us. the younger one joined the teen club and was enjoying himself until a nasty elderly passenger made a comment about him being to fat again the elderly passengers were making comments about the children in the pool- the teen club staff who where great took the teens for a karaoke evening in the night club this is the only smoking room and again the passengers who smoked sat around ciggies in hand with stoney faces waiting for the karaoke to end so they could smoke.we have been on a quite a few cruises this is the first time my children have been verbally abused it was rather upsetting as my children are quiet and polite. the Oceana is supposed to be a family ship and elderly passengers need to be reminded there will be children playing on board - one other small point although we checked in at 12 midday our luggage did not arrive at our cabin until 6pm which meant we were unable to unpack and change for dinner in time for our 6.30pm allocated time. However this was only a blip on what was a wonderful cruise and i would book with p&o again but make sure its a ship with older teen facilities.

We sailed on the Oceana down the Med, the ship is lovely and most of the staff were nice. The weather was'nt great but that was becauce of the time of year. Not much going on for young kids, my one kept asking to go home. Hairdressers on the ship was very bad and did'nt seen to care. The ports we went to were not nice they had cranes and containers in mainly industial. I dont think I will be going again unless P&O offer me a mega deal. I booked this as a special treat for my wifes 40 birthday. Not impressed

We had a wonderful holiday on our first time with P&O cruises. The food was very good and we could not fault the service anywhere. The cabins had ample wardrobe space and our room attendant, John, was lovely. The only minor downside was the lack of adult only swimming facilities. This would, I imagine, cause even more of a problem in the Summer months. We enjoyed our excursions to Seville and Mount Teadi and have booked our next P&O cruise already

My husband and I have just returned from a P & O cruise with the Oceana. The ship was lovely. You could not fault the food or the staff especially our cabin steward Mario. We were very spoilt. The entertainment was ok but could have done with a bit more variety. The Starlights was a bit of a muddle how it was set out and it made it difficult for the waiters to get to some of the seats. The shore excursions were ok but a little expensive. If you go on the Mountains and Maracas trip in Trinidad the 4 x 4s are very old and uncomfortable, you need to be agile to climb in and out, they would not pass health and safety in the uk. The trip itself was fine, lovely scenery. All the people on the islands are very friendly. We are booked to go on the Artemis December 2008 and we can't wait. Only wish our lottery numbers would come up so we could go sooner.

We sailed on the Oceana for a week last September from Southampton to Cork, Amsterdam, Brugge, Le Havre and St. Peter Port in Guernsey. Having sailed with P&O a few times before we knew what to expect and we were not disappointed! We only had an inside cabin but it was perfectly fine for us as we never spend long in our cabin anyway. The ship was, as always, spotless and the crew seemed very happy and always had a smile for us. The food was stunning and our table mates were a fantastic bunch of people with whom we spent many hours both before and after dinner chatting over drinks in one of the many bars. The ports on this cruise were really nice for a week, we especially enjoyed Cobh, it's so pretty there with all the coloured houses. Many of the passengers were to be found in the "Titanic Bar" before re-boarding the ship. On Guernsey we chose to take an excursion to Sark, which was evidently a fantastic choice. You get around the Island by horse drawn carriage! It has a wonderfully laid back feel to it and the rugged scenery really makes for a very enjoyable day. The ferry over and back was a bit "up and down" but that just added to the fun. Back on board we enjoyed the shows every evening and I have to say the standard was very high. We also enjoyed the live music around the ship which created a really nice atmosphere in the different bars and public spaces. All in all a great little cruise on a great ship.

I have recently returned from The Iberian Adventures cruise aboard the P&O Oceana and as a newcomer to cruising holidays, I must admit, I was very impressed with the whole experience. After a leisurely embarkation the ship set sail from Southampton to the sound of classical music performed by a live quartet based at the port. The first day at sea went a breeze as we made our way down to Vigo thanks to the multiple activities, facilities and services available on this luxury liner. The following day We woke up to the sun shining in the very chilled spanish town of Vigo before heading to Lisbon, a very beautiful and cultured city and brilliant for shopping. That evening we participated in a cruise away party waving goodbye to Lisbon from the Jacuzzi, coctail in hand as we sailed beneath the Tagus river bridge. We then docked in the pleasant French town of La Rochelle, where we were blessed with good weather and a variety of trendy cafes to dine in. Our last port of call was the French town of Brest for a last spot of sightseeing and souvenir shopping. The ship was fantastic, I have summarised our views below: Food I was told the food aboard cruise ships was plentiful and of a very high standard, and I was not dissapointed. Regardless of the time, day or night we could eat what we wanted and however much we wanted. The evening meals were of excellent quality and the service provided was exceptional. Entertainment Day or night there was always something going on onboard the Oceana, whether it be line dancing lessons in the afternoon or great comedy acts in the evening. With the quality of the shows in the evening you could be forgiven for thinking you were in Londons west end with the performers so talented and energetic. Service The sevice was impeccable throughout, from the cleaning of the rooms to the service of the food, the staff cannot do enough to help. In conclusion to this I would highly reccommend the Oceana as a fantastic choice, whether your planning your 1st cruise or your 31st. The atmosphere aboard the ship was electric, the facilities innovative and the entertainment dazzling. Truly a memorable trip
